Texas Man Arrested After Allegedly Driving Tesla Cybertruck Into Lake to Test ‘Wade Mode’
A Texas man was arrested after police say he intentionally drove his Tesla Cybertruck into Grapevine Lake while attempting to test the vehicle’s “Wade Mode” feature.
According to the Grapevine Police Department, officers responded to Katie’s Woods Park Boat Ramp on May 18 after reports of a vehicle partially submerged near the shoreline.
When authorities arrived, they discovered the Cybertruck stuck in the water after it reportedly became disabled and started taking on water. The driver and passengers were forced to abandon the vehicle before it sank further.
Police said the driver later admitted he intentionally drove into the lake to test the Cybertruck’s special “Wade Mode” setting.
Tesla’s online owner’s manual states that the feature allows the Cybertruck to drive through certain bodies of water, including shallow rivers and creeks, under limited conditions.
No injuries were reported during the incident, though the unusual crash quickly drew attention online as photos of the submerged Cybertruck spread across social media.
